Today I took a path to nowhere, of course when I started down the path I thought it went somewhere. I took a long walk out a path and eventually ended up on a boardwalk that came to an end with railings and trees. As I looked a little closer through the trees I could see a small river and beautiful marsh lands.
Taking this path to nowhere started me thinking about all the paths people take in life. So often we travel paths to nowhere and never realize why. Sometimes in life when I have traveled a path to nowhere I got a lovely surprise like I did today, sometimes I end up very disappointed.
I believe life leads us down many paths and it is our job to decide which path to travel. We need to ask ourselves if this path is helping us become a the best version of ourselves or is this path causing us harm? Sometimes we even travel down paths that are very good and doing great things for others, but they aren’t the best for us, so we need to decide to leave that path and look for the next. Choose your path wisely, at times the best choice may be a path to nowhere.
I have always loved Robert Frost’s poem, “I chose the road less taken and that has made all the difference.”
