The Enemy of Prayer

A couple of posts back in this series, we began looking into the subject of prayer.  We’ve explored how God wants us to pray, and learned how to approach God as children needing their Father.  This post digs deeper to uncover the hidden hope in our prayers, and calls out a consistent obstacle we’ve encountered…maybe even prayer’s biggest enemy.

“Stay alert. This is hazardous work I’m assigning you. You’re going to be like sheep running through a wolf pack, so don’t call attention to yourselves. Be as cunning as a snake, inoffensive as a dove.”

– Matthew 10:16  MSG

These are Jesus’s words, and He’s asking us here to maintain a balance of awareness and child-like trust in a world full of howling, snapping, cynical wolves.  He reminds us to focus on the hope of eternity and not on the hardship of today.   We don’t need to be afraid.  We don’t need to be discouraged.  We don’t need to be cynical.  God wins.
