Bloom Where You’re Planted

Hope Shack (3)
So often I find myself caught in the mess of my surroundings.  It is difficult to understand who I am or what my purpose is when I focus on that mess.  On the farm I am frequently surprised when I see a beautiful flower or blooming tree in the middle of a hayfield or thorny bush.  It seems incredible to me to see this beauty as it struggles against it’s surrounding environment even as the rocks and weeds threaten to choke it out.

IMG_0495I find myself striving to be like these tough little plants, I want to grow better and stronger each day, better at being me, not what the world around me thinks I should be.  There is only one of me and so I try to bloom where I’m planted.  I work to use my strengths and not focus on my weakness or the perceived lack that society might place on me.  Like the little flower, I am always pushing forward against the weeds of this world.

Take a moment today to look at
the flowers in the field or growing in the cracks in the sidewalk, they have not let their surroundings choke them out, they bloom where they are planted and we can too.
