God’s Big View

What part of your life do you believe God cares about?

There are things about God and His creation that we simply aren’t able to see.  How do we fit into that big picture, and how do we get a glimpse of it?    We spend a small percentage of our time doing spiritual things like going to church, listening to Christian music, or praying before we eat.   Could this really be all that God desires from and has planned for our lives?

What if God’s perspective looked more like this?

Gods Big VIew.“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.  Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.  – (Matthew 5:13-16 The Message)

These are God’s words, recorded by a man named Matthew.   He’s talking about His purpose for His followers, and using all that He gives us to bring others closer to Him.  Every part of our life has purpose and value to be used by God, including where we live, what we do, and the experiences we’ve had.

So how can we get God’s big picture view for our own life? Let’s explore that together.
