“When I was ashamed, God showed me I was worthy. When I was dead inside, God revived me. He didn’t just leave once He fixed me, and He didn’t just show up because I was broken. He had been there since the beginning, always wanting more for me but just waiting for me to say yes to all He had in store.” – excerpt from Amber’s Story
Today’s Promise reminds us that we matter. Each of us. Every one of us has value, and not one of us has ever been forgotten by God. I know that many hurts have been caused by a loved one forgetting about us or letting us down. Rejection and abandonment, grief or loss, they all hurt deeply. This promises encourages us to not be afraid of what someone thinks about us, or what anyone does to us, but instead to worry about what God thinks. He’s the one deciding our eternal future.
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.– Luke 12:6-7
Making changes is hard. Leaving unhealthy situations is hard. Leaving people we care about to do something better for ourselves is hard. Leaving addictions or abusive situations is hard. This passage urges us to forget about what others may say or do to us, and to fear God alone. Sure, someone or something could hurt or kill our bodies, but God can condemn our souls. So, Jesus tells us here to not be afraid of anyone. When the world says, “You don’t matter”, stop and remember. You have not been forgotten by the one that loves you and wants to care for you. That’s where you’ll find your true value. If you’ve been hurt by someone, or feel threatened, look up. Call His name, and ask Him to help you. He will protect you and lead you to a better place.
If this is new to you, feel free to reach out to us and tell us your story. You are not alone.
