Let’s Stick Together

“Relationships are an important part of our lives, we need to share the laughter and the tears in community.” – Via Michele Cushatt , one of the most encouraging and tenacious ladies I know.

Michele’s take on nurturing relationships is the very definition and purpose of community.  We laugh together, we cry together, we help with each other’s kids, and give a ride when the car won’t start.  Online communities work in the same way.  We gather around our common interests and inevitably begin to share pieces of life together within our circles.   Sharing our load lightens it.  Sharing our joy brightens it.

Many of us have the tendency to isolate ourselves when things aren’t going well.  We may not want to share the ugly side of life, or we simply may not have the capacity for conversation.  There’s a little danger in isolating too much as it gives depression and bitterness a chance to grow.  Someone told me once, “Darkness can’t live where the light shines.”  Sharing life in community helps keep the lights on.
