“I can’t even tell you what it was I was supposed to do; I just know I began to heal. I had a very long road ahead of me, but each day I saw something positive.” – excerpt from Laurie’s Story
“I am so thankful that HE loved me enough to allow me to see positive in every bad situation along the way. I’m so thankful that HIS love is perfect, and as my father, he will never let me down or hurt me. ” – excerpt from Erin’s Story
“I didn’t have it all together. I was angry, hurt, and full of resentment. I was supposed to be a Christian, and I had really messed up… ” I wrote that in a post awhile back, and it’s a piece of my story. As I began my walk forward with a sliver of hope and faith, I didn’t feel very secure. I had been hurt and betrayed, and didn’t trust too many people. I knew that I had made my own mistakes in response to that, and assumed no one would understand that. I wanted to move in the right direction, but couldn’t do it all at once. I certainly couldn’t do it without God’s help. So many times, I would wonder when God would give up on me like the people I had trusted did. That was before I learned the depth of His love for each of us.
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. – Philippians 1:6
Today’s promise reminds us that God’s love doesn’t run out. We can’t get it right and earn His love and promises. I made so many mistakes, stumbling along, as I learned to trust and follow Him. I had forgotten that He had rescued me, and it wasn’t me that earned His love. He was already there when I looked in His direction, when I looked for a way out. Since then I’ve learned that His Grace is a gift, and have watched Him do that good work in my life.
Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! – Ephesians 2:8 MSG
He has plans for each of us that He will carry out regardless of how well we behave, how strong we are, or how brave. Day by day, piece by piece, He will continue to work in each of us, and He’ll bring it all together in a perfect way. He’s not going to give up on us when we don’t get things right, when we aren’t strong enough, or when we make mistakes that we can’t fix. He will continue to help us. He will continue to welcome us back with wide open arms. He’s not going to get tired of loving us or forgiving us. .
I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. – Jeremiah 29:11 MSG
