“I realized the truth; I didn’t do it. God had covered my butt every step of the way. He kept me out of prison, out of a mental institution, AND out of the graveyard.” – excerpt from Scott’s Story
Today’s Promise reminds us that God is in control, and that we needn’t fear the people that oppose us. God will defend us. Even when we seem to be surrounded by enemies and mountains too steep to climb, He will help us to stand strong in the midst of it all. We may have to stand alone in what feels like an attack from all sides, but He will keep us safe. I saw this truth play out in my own life as I traveled through divorce. I faced a great deal of injustice, but He protected us from any real harm. It isn’t easy to stand alone, to resist the crowd, and to be out of step with the philosophies and values of the times. It takes a conscious choice to look to Him and trust in Him, regardless of how desperate our situation may seem. Sometimes, all that you can do is hold on tightly.
I don’t know what you’re up against today, what troubles lie before you, or what difficulty seems insurmountable, but I do know that if you look up, and call on His name, He will fight for you.
“Stand at attention while I prepare you for your work. I’m making you as impregnable as a castle, Immovable as a steel post, solid as a concrete block wall. You’re a one-man defense system against this culture, against Judah’s kings and princes, against the priests and local leaders. They’ll fight you, but they won’t even scratch you. I’ll back you up every inch of the way.” God’s Decree. -Jeremiah 1:19 MSG
