Shelter from the Storm

I didn’t know how the bills would be paid, how I could afford an attorney, or where I could find a job.   I didn’t know what would be left standing as the dust settled and the world stopped spinning.

0516131224 (1) When tragedy strikes, we can be shaken to the very core. Where do we turn?   Great question.  There are plenty of choices.   There were times I turned to friends, to new relationships, to socializing, to solitude and nature.  None of them provided the refuge I needed to wait out the storm I was in, to bring the answers I needed.  Only when I turned to God first, and called out to Him, clung to His promises, did I find real safety and real answers, and real recovery.

He promises to be steady and strong, to provide safety and refuge, and finally, to show us the way out.   He promises to receive us as we are, sometimes in shock and broken, sometimes overwhelmed or helpless, and to give us rest.  He wraps us in His tireless love and shows us, so patiently, the way to peace.
